Configuration engineering team responsible for Configure Price Quote implementation for hardware products of large multinational systems manufacturer was suffering from legacy test mapping framework. Main pain point was legacy algorithms which could not cope with scaling of hardware product lines and its options resulting in issues escaping to production in the form of P1 issues.
I created a programming language for defining complex testing scenarios. It had the features of regular programing languages like object structures and conditional logic but without unnecessary complexity making its adoption super effective.
Compiler of the language was adopted to protocol of existing test execution runtime allowing flawless injection to the infrastructure.
We used decoupled architecture utilising open source products to provide independent development of modules and easy diagnostics.
Development of tools started the same day as sourcing candidates for 10 new positions of QA Engineers. Alpha version release of the language together with a full blown development environment and compiler was deployed within 3 months right on time for QA training. Production version was in production in additional 2 months and transition to use entirely new system took another 2 months allowing to enter new fiscal year with substantial savings
Scene - because that’s the name of the language became popular inside the company and is used till now. Its value of savings is counted in $M and is still counting :)
